Floating involves lying in a pod or room that contains 10’’ of constantly heated water mixed with 1,000 lbs of therapeutic grade Epsom salt.

Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) is absorbed through your skin while you float. Not only will the magnesium make your skin feel softer but it can help regulate blood pressure, assist in detoxification and aid in the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

We’ve all had aches and pain at some point in our lives and some suffer daily. Regardless which group you fall in, you can help manage your pain with float therapy. Floating in a zero gravity environment with Epsom salt-infused water helps realign your body creating an environment in which your body can completely relax reducing multiple types of pain including acute injuries, chronic conditions, fibromyalgia and more.

Sore muscles? Floating will increase your circulation, promote greater muscle relaxation and reduce the physical stress on your body. Those who are active experience a decrease in their recovery time after physical activity.

We all know how important getting a good night’s sleep is. The deep relaxation that you’ll experience with a one-hour float session at Mystic Float is equivalent to approximately 4-6 hours of sleep.

The deep relaxation you will feel from increased dopamine and endorphin, and the decrease in cortisol during your float session will help relieve stress and anxiety to leave you feeling refreshed and blissful.

Regardless if you want to use your float session to sort out what’s going on in your life or just leave your mind blank, almost everyone feels balanced and ready for the world after floating.

After undressing and showering with the high-quality, organic soap and shampoo/conditioner that we provide, you will step into a quiet, warm, private float pod or float room and lay back in water that contains 1,000 lbs of dissolved Epsom salt. The water is very dense so you will float right on top – no matter your weight. This means that, after normalizing to the silky water, you’ll have no tactile input on the skin and no pressure points running along your body. You will be fully supported and will expend no physical energy to maintain position in the water.

The water is kept at a constant temperature of around 95.5˚F, which is normal skin temperature. This feels warm at first but soon becomes unnoticeable.

You can choose to turn the lighting off so your eyes can rest in the comforting darkness achieving sensory deprivations. External sounds are kept to an absolute minimum through soundproofing within the facility, earplugs and the design of the tanks themselves. Alternatively, you can choose to keep lighting on and/or listen to music.

Some people prefer to float using a head pillow which will be provided. We at Mystic Float recommend using earplugs (also provided) to keep water out of your ears. Even with earplugs, you can still hear music and audio through our transducer speakers. In either case, it’s important to allow the head and body to completely relax – your face will not go under the water line. Holding your head above the water will completely defeat the purpose of your float session so it’s important to relax. Some people enjoy floating with their arms along their side and others with their arms under their head. You can experiment a bit until you find the position that’s most comfortable for you. Soon your entire body is completely relaxed.

Without the need to pay attention to constantly changing stimuli like ringing cell phones, navigating traffic or having a conversation (unless with oneself), your mind is free for use in problem solving, creative exploration, learning, meditation, rest and relaxation. It’s also very common for some to fall asleep.

Floating at Mystic Float is a 60-minute experience in a powerfully relaxing environment. We offer various experiences to choose from including guided meditation, custom sonic journeys, having music fade to silence after a few minutes, and/or no lighting for full sensory deprivation.

Our equipment was chosen with consideration for those who prefer larger and unconfined spaces, providing complete control in having the pod lid or room door open.

A ‘call attendant’ button is available on the inside of both the pod and the room. This allows immediate two-way communication with the float attendant if required.

Once your session has ended, you’ll hear a calming voice to notify you its time to begin exiting the pod or room for your post float shower.

Emerging from a float is an experience in itself. Senses are sharpened, your mind and body are refreshed, and the world may appear more vibrant. The feeling is often one of peace, relaxation, happiness and calm attentiveness. You’ll most likely find that the effects of your float session last for hours or even days.
